NAIDOC Week 8-15 July 2018 #NAIDOC2018
Mon 09, Jul 2018
July 8 marks the start of NAIDOC week, a national week of celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Continence Foundation of Australia is taking part with a stall in the NAIDOC South Australia Family Fun Day, held on Friday 13 July at Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square) from 11:30am-3:30pm, after the NAIDOC March. The Foundation will also have a stall at the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre Open Day in Warriparinga on Thursday 26 July from 10am – 3pm. Visit the NAIDOC Week events page to find community events happening in your area and join the celebration.
This year’s theme is ‘Because of Her, We Can!’ and aims to highlight the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played in society, which they have often not been recognised for.
The Continence Foundation of Australia and Australian Government provide a range of specially designed bladder and bowel health resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including Indigenous Health Workers. These include information on topics such as leaking urine after having a baby, pelvic floor exercises and seeking help with incontinence. To order or view the resources, head to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander section on our website.
